We caught up on May 16, 2022, with longtime Poetry Postcard Fest participant Judy J.I. Kleinberg about her exhibit at the Peter Miller Books in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. J.I. Kleinberg is a longtime Poetry Postcard participant who grew up in Los Angeles and studied textile design at Cal Berkeley. She’s lived in Bellingham since 2005, has been writing since elementary school and has had three careers: artist, marketing professional, and freelance writer. Since 2010 she has published two almost-daily WordPress blogs – The Poetry Department, which is about poetry in the Cascadia region, and her personal site, Chocolate is a Verb. With Luther Allen, she co-produces the SpeakEasy poetry reading series and co-edited the anthology Noisy Water: Poetry from Whatcom County, Washington. A poetry postcard fest participant since 2011, she was also a co-editor for our poetry postcard anthology, 56 Days of August. Her solo exhibit of visual poems is on view through May 2022 at Peter Miller Books in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. Judy talked about her practice of creating what she calls “Found Poems.” Earlybird registration for the Poetry Postcard Fest ends June 4, but Judy signed up MONTHS ago.
