PAUL E NELSON

I had the good fortune to interview a former Washington State Poet Laureate, Claudia Castro Luna via Zoom on June 17, 2022. We talked about her new book Cipota Under the Moon, her exodus from El Salvador as a teenager during the horrific Civil War that was, in part, exacerbated by U.S. involvement, about her use of Spanglish in the new book and her use of the prose poem form. I think you’ll find the interview to be deep and wide-ranging and Claudia to be gracious, perceptive and humble. The audio of this interview is also part of our Cascadian Prophets podcast series.
