I’m delighted to have been invited to read as part of the Jack Straw Writers Program reading Monday, October 21, 2024 at 7pm. Other poets include John Burgess, Bill Carty, Denise Michaels, Susan Rich and Katharine Whitcomb. Jack Straw is a wonderful place to read with their emphasis on audio, and their long involvement with the local literary arts scene since their days as KRAB-FM.

The book that was current when the invitation to read was sent is DaySong Miracle (Past 62), a daysong written Friday, September 8, 2023 and centered in large part about losing three longtime Chicago friends to various maladies all in one calendar year at age 62, written two weeks before I turned 62. Suffice it to say I MADE IT, but not without a tremendous amount of grief which, as we know, comes in waves.
This book was the third of five these day-long writing rituals I’ve written and, of course, I am still riding the energy of the LAST daysong I wrote, September 1, 2024, which I posted here. I have half a mind to read from DSM on Oct 21 and from the new daysong on December 11 as part of the Poetry Bridge reading series at C&P Coffee House in West Seattle. I am grateful for your interest, for Jack Straw, Greg Bem, Kathleen Flenniken, C&P Coffee House, Leopoldo Seguel and all the people & places that make space for poets.
Great poet, great venue. Paul, I will try to make it, but can’t stick around afterwards. It’s a school night for me.
Will it be Zoomed/Skyped/FaceTimed/webcast by any chance for those who can’t make it in person?
