On Wednesday night at C&P Coffee Company in West Seattle, longtime Seattle poet and publisher Koon Woon was honored by his friends, by poets who he mentored and those who love him. Here is the other page from the program:

All poets spoke eloquently about Koon’s literary generosity, their books he published via Goldfish Press and several wrote and read poems for the occasion. In an email last night, Koon asked specifically for help in continuing his publishing work:
I would like to let others do some of the work to build community, as I would like to engage in a bit of buffoonery like anyone else. I am actually looking for anyone to help with Goldfish Press and Chrysanthemum Literary Society and morph it into something that keeps up with both the past and the future.
Let me know if you want the entire burden or just a part of it.
Please do and take over.
I haven’t gone surf fishing since the late 1970s in Grays Harbor’s Ocean Shores.
“My one line into the ocean is all I can do…”
Love to you all,
Koon

Koon has been my friend for about 30 years and I hope someone does step up to carry on his legacy of publishing local writers who merit publication and might not otherwise be published. My poem for the occasion:
