It might be the 56 Days of August, but I’ll take a break from writing postcards for a moment to read at two local cultural events that I’ve been part of before.

Margin Shift: Friends in Poetry has been a “movable feast” for the better part of a year now and much the better, finding venues to partner with including the Seattle Theosophical Library on Capitol Hill. Located inside the Quest Bookshop, this was a place I visited many times after moving to Seattle in 1988 to get feed my growing interest in the metaphysical. To read there will be a joy and an honor. Friends Amy Hirayama and Eric Acosta will participate along with four other poets in what is shaping up to be one of my summer highlights. In preparing work for this occasion, I remembered that MANY of my haibun from the book Haibun de la Serna have references to my daily Rune divination practice and that is consistent with what I expect will be covered on this occasion. The event is in a picnic setting and I think I’ll be finished with the Sangria de Diablo by then. It is taking a lot of room in our fridge right now & I should be drinking something more reasonable that night. Playing with Jim’s band in this setting is one of my literary joys each year so I hope to see you at this remarkable garden which is still recovering from the arson of a couple of years ago.
